This was a special week for SU’s student association – it was the
week of SA elections where the entire SU student body could log into
Myslice and vote for their preferred candidate for SA prez, comptroller,
and a variety of other ambiguous-sounding titles.
Yet, no one did. Students rejected their right to cast their votes as not one individual logged on to vote.
“I guess I forgot there was something to vote for? Like, I just don’t
get why we’re voting,” says junior marketing major Stacie Campbell.
Students have cited a variety of reasons for their lack of awareness and
interest in the elections. One student stated that no one invited him
to the elections on Facebook so he was therefore unable to determine the
legitimacy and popularity of the voting process.
Current SA officials are looking into how to remedy the problem.
