Goizueta is ranked third among business schools across the country. This leads to the obvious question, what is preventing us from being number one? As a BBA student here at Emory, I have always felt that something is missing in the curriculum. Sure you can concentrate in finance, accounting, and all that other good stuff. But what needs to be added? I was unable to put my finger on it until I read the Goizueta Newsletter. Duhhhh. We are missing the advice of hip hop and R&B stars!!
Goizueta has always been way too focused on bringing in CEOs and top executives from America’s leading corporations. As a finance and consulting major, how is the advice of the CEO of Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley supposed to be helpful? Obviously what they have to say has little to no merit.
Fortunately, Goizueta has realized what it takes to be successful in the business world in this day and age and has brought in Usher Raymond III, also known as Usher, to lecture at the school’s leadership foundation. He headlined a panel discussion as part of his New Look Foundation.
It is safe to say the lecture was by far the most useful and relevant I have ever attended. I will now be properly trained and prepared when asked to serenade my clients and seduce them with my dazzling dance moves. Work ethic and job proficiency can only get you so far. At a certain point it comes down to your natural talent, your voice, flexibility, and most importantly, your abs. You might be tempted to ask, are the only important attributes in today’s business world your voice, dance moves, and overall sexiness? Yes.
Thank God Goizueta realized what it was missing before it was too late. Goizueta will most certainly be the top-ranked business school in the country if it can keep bringing in lecturers of this caliber.
Who is Goizueta bringing in next? The names Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa have been floating around, but it remains to be seen. For now all we can do is wait and thank Usher for helping secure Goizueta’s soon to be number one ranking.
