As the year draws to a close, we at Syracuse Basement (aka The Artist Formerly Known as CuseMyCampus) just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you out there in the webisphere who take the time to read our jokes. Maybe you do it because you think they’re funny, maybe you do it because you have nothing better to do, or maybe you have no idea how you ended up on the site and can’t seem to go to a different URL (if that’s the case, then our special virus worked!). Whatever the reason, you guys are awesome and you make our lives fun.

As a special celebration of the end of 2010, here are some of our favorite moments of the year.

Most Shared Article: Before we launched Campus Basement and reset all of the data, Alex Rosenthal’s Four Loko article was absolutely viral, with thousands of Facebook shares. It’s nice to know what our audience’s leisure activities are.

Most Hilarious Comment: On that very Four Loko article, Candii Redd’s comment took the cake with this eloquent prose: “ITS FUKIN AWESOMEEEEE! DEF WATERMELON! YALL TRIPPIN!…IMA CONTINUE TO
DRINK IT!…DIS SITE IS TRASH…I BELIEVE DIFF PPL REACT TO IT
DIFFERENTLY I HAV NO PROBS BUD DA NXT GUY CN SUFFER A MASSIVE
HANGOVER…SHIDD ITS DA OWN PPL FAULT IF THEY CNT HANDLE IT! HAHA!”

Best Boy Band Article: You, dear reader, are my fire. But Ian Smith and some other party-goers weren’t exactly swooning when a DJ played a Backstreet Boys album the whole way through. TELL ME WHYYY!!!

Most Creative Poem Incorporating the Term “Skank Outfits”: Without a doubt, Erin’s “These are a Few of My Favorite Halloween Things” best recounts everyone’s favorite parts of Halloween, from Pumpkin Spice lattes to “pirates with lace thongs.”

Best Friday Night: Brian does it all. He coded this entire site from scratch. He has to put up with shit from Alex, who is incapable of doing anything other than dictating changes to the site from his ivory tower. And he runs a T-shirt business called Squeeze My Tees. But he’s absolutely useless once he has half a beer in him. And sometimes, he ends up in strange places…

Blasts from the Past: Turns out that many of you love the ’80s and ’90s. If you haven’t joined the (breakfast) club yet, put on your pink and green windbreaker, throw on a TLC album, and check out Samii Ruddy’s Boy Meets World article or Kevin Slack’s report on how DPS promoted Kevin McAllister to South Campus Security Consultant.

Best Foreign Article: Danny Fersh weighed in from abroad to let all of America know that Spanish women, despite being absolutely gorgeous, are not to be messed with, especially by “skeevy-ass European dudes.” ¡Ay, mi corazón!

Surprise of the Year: If you’re one of the people who predicted a Syracuse Bowl Game victory in 2010 (or that Syracuse would even make a Bowl Game), you’re full of shit. Plain and simple. We at Syracuse Basement regret doubting the team’s abilities in articles that claim their new rival to be Victory itself. However, we stand by what we witnessed on the Wall-to-Wall between Doug Marrone and Greg Robinson. Congrats, Orange, on winning the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl!

All in all, it’s been a pretty great year for ‘Cuse. What was your favorite Orange moment of 2010?
